IPPA’s divisions play a vital role in advancing our mission. Specifically, divisions:
- Help members learn, connect and collaborate
- Advance the science and practice of positive psychology
- Develop thought leadership and best practices
- Bridge research and practice
- Share the findings of positive psychology with other professions
As a division leader, you play an essential role in leading volunteers, serving members, and advancing strategic efforts. This toolkit is meant to give you the tools and resources you will need to succeed.

Build, Train, Manage Your Team
Division Officers (President, President-Elect and Secretary), serve 2-year terms that correspond with the World Congress.
Committee Leads (various program leads, communication, etc.) are appointed by the Division Officers with the approval of the Divisions Committee Program Director. These leads may serve 1 or 2-year terms.

New Volunteer OnBoarding Process.
All volunteers must take a New Volunteer Orientation and agree to the Member Code of Conduct before starting their terms. Please exercise the steps below to familiarize yourself with IPPA’s expectations:

Reporting, Policies, Procedures
Annually, Division Officers are required to provide an activity report for the previous year by March 1st, 2020. These reports are shared with the Board of Directors.

Annually, Division Officers, in coordination with IPPA’s Divisions Committee and the Director of Year-Round Programming undertake strategic planning to help Divisions deliver steady member value and sustainable offerings to members year-round. The annual division activity proposal helps IPPA to anticipate volunteer, organizational and financial support needed for the coming year. In 2020, IPPA will encourage divisions to focus on sustaining their current offerings and preparing for the 7th World Congress in Vancouver.
