January can feel cold and unyielding – and the world often feels uncertain. This month’s Music Guild offers a space to listen, feel, and make meaning together through the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff, a composer shaped by exile, displacement, and self-doubt. Performing for us will be Grace Zhao, Professor of Music and Music Department Chair at the University of Verne and a graduate of the Penn MAPP program.

We’ll listen and reflect on:

• Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, II. Adagio Sostenuto (adapted for solo piano)
• Prelude in G minor, Op. 23, No. 5
• Prelude in D major, Op. 23, No. 4
