Karen Garman, EdD, MAPP, BCC, will present Finding Your Light: Rediscovering Meaning and Purpose in Healthcare. Karen is a leader in implementing a variety of professional development training programs at leading public and private healthcare organizations. She had a leadership role in the launch of the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine, integrating positive psychology and health into the medical student curriculum over all four years, and the Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine pioneering precision health care for infants and children through rapid diagnosis and targeted treatment for newborns.

Dr. Sarah Pressman, Ph.D, will present her latest findings. Sarah is a Professor of Psychological Science and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Success at the University of California at Irvine, where she leads the StEP (Stress, Emotions, and Physical Health) Laboratory. Sarah examines the role that positive emotions, positive behaviours, and other well-being/mental health factors play in influencing stress and health outcomes and how positive factors “get under the skin” influence our well-being and protect us against the harmful effects of stress. More recently, Sarah’s work has focused on the importance of positive energy restoration (e.g., via vacations and sleep), as well as trying to understand the concept of vigor.

Lisa Buksbaum, MAPP, MBA, will present Empirical findings from the SOARING Into Positive Wellbeing workshop initiative for thousands of residents in long-term care facilities.

Dr. Kathi Norman, MAPP, DSc, will present Patients’ Response: Positive Medicine in Clinical Practice.
