Presenter Bio:


Masaya Okamoto is a researcher and instructor of Mindfulness and Strengths at the Institute of Integral Wellbeing Sciences (ICBI) and specializes in Positive Psychology and Meditation. He is a pioneering global leader in the field of Strengths-based Mindfulness and the scientific program Mindfulness-Based Strengths Practice (MBSP). He specializes in the sciences and practices of Mindfulness, Meditation, and other contemplative disciplines such as Qigong, Tai Chi, and Yoga. He began his daily Meditation practices at the age of 3, Yoga at 6, and Qigong, Tai Chi, and related disciplines at 12, becoming an instructor in these meditative disciplines.


In his academic studies in Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Manchester, England; Psychology, Philosophy, and Linguistics at the University of Hong Kong, he conducted research to explore self-directed positive neuroplasticity for health and wellbeing generated by contemplative practices such as Meditation and Mindfulness. He is also an expert in the sciences and practices of Character Strengths and Virtues, as well as Positive Psychology in general, which is the Science of Wellbeing, Happiness, and Human Flourishing. He holds a Master’s degree in Science with a specialization in Applied Positive Psychology from the of East London University, England.
